Vision and Values
Spirituality
This is our definition of spirituality. It about your personal relationships with God, yourself, others and the world, done through love.
It is about developing a love of God, love of self, love of others and a love of the world. For people of no faith God would be' a sense of the beyond'.
Spirituality
Throughout our curriculum and the wider curriculum willa ctively look for opportunities for children to develop their spirituality.
Christian Value Families
Values are important to us as a school and we aim to develop our pupils academically, spiritually, morally, socially, culturally and physically by providing a broad and balanced curriculum with faith values at the heart of everything we do. The school has four Christian core values at the heart which are also values in other faiths such as our majority faith Islam. These are love, belonging, service and thankfulness. These values form the basis of our family system in our school. All children belong to one of the value families. At the start of the academic year, children in these families vote for value ambassadors from Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 to lead their family and to represent both the value and our school throughout the year. There are opportunities throughout the year for these value ambassadors to plan and lead whole school and value team worship. These values are also reinforced through our Silas and Me (SAM) challenges and awards. More information about our SAM challenges can be found on:

Through our teaching we actively promote respect and tolerance of all faiths, races and cultures to ensure that our pupils become global citizens who will make positive contributions to society and the wider world.
Love Value
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Our love value underpins all our work on inclusion and our behaviour policy.
Service Value
Mark 10 v45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
Our Service value underpins all our work in the local community and work for charities locally, nationally and internationally.
The school has strong links with St Silas Church. Over 100 years ago St Silas Church created the first ever St Silas Primary School to serve the children in the local community by delivering the best education they could to the children in the area. This aim continues today regardless of the heritage or faith of the children in the local community and is the foundation of our service value. Some of our governors worship at St Silas Church. The school holds whole school services in the church every half term and parents, governors and the wider community are invited.

Thankfulness Value
Ephesians 5:19-20
Giving thanks to God the Father for everything.
This value makes us want to look after the world God created for us.
Belonging
I Corinthians 12:24-26
But God has combined the members of the body… so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
Our value of belonging underpins all our equality and diversity policies.
In creative worship the children in each value family created art work to represent their value, the Biblical basis for their value and the linked parable.
